This is the last Hitchcock Essential of the season, but it’s a really good one – the Lariat Necklace. Delicate, but exciting! Wear it in or out of your shirt. Super sexy – with a bikini, yesss gawd! We love a good Lariat Necklace and we bet you don’t have one.
Imagine this delicate silver and pyrite chain with a white bikini – so good!
This piece by Xenia Mara is both a Lariat and Statement Necklace – you really can have it all.
A simple gold lariat by Loren Stewart is the perfect way to add some sparkle to s simple T-shirt.
How amazing does this lariat make your neck look! We love the combo of gold and labradorite.
That wraps up our 10 Hitchcock Essentials. What do you think, did we leave any out? If you need to fill in any gaps in your 10 Essentials jewelry box, you know where to find us!
Erica, Dustin, and Kristina
Okay, I have to admit that this may be my most favorite and most essential of all the Hitchcock Essentials. I LOVE a serious layered necklace. They are amazing on their own but even better as a base piece that you layer another necklace over. (It makes you look like a layering genius but it is dead easy!) As far as we’re concerned, nobody does the Layered Necklace better than our friend Xenia Mara. Her pieces are stunning on their and traffic stopping with something fierce over the top.
Xenia Mara shiney goddess layers, amazing on their own …
… even better layered with the Xenia Mara rock crystal Statement Necklace.
… or layered with our Hitchcock pearls.
It even works with delicate pieces. Xenia Mara delicate labradorite layers, so pretty …
… but when layered, a little edgy! Love how the black diamond in our Hitchcock Shield (a favorite second skin layer) looks against the dark vintage chains.
… and, of course you can never go wrong with our signature Hitchcock Heart.
As I’m writing this I’m wearing my very own Xenia Mara rock crystal stunner layered with Goddess chains – so I might be just the tiniest bit biased. But, if you do one Essential piece this season, make it a long layer. You won’t regret it – Promise!
We’re all familiar with the 12 Days of Christmas but really, who needs all those birds … we might keep the five golden rings though! This holiday season we’re bringing you the 10 Hitchcock Essentials. At Hitchcock Madrona we believe that every woman needs ten essential items in her jewelry box – maybe 11 if you include a fabulous jewelry box!
Each post we’ll bring you a new Essential and some of the best versions of it.
Let’s get started with something big and bold – some of our favorite descriptors around here! The Statement Earring. You know the pair – you design an outfit around them, you put them on for that extra special date night, you’ll put your hair up just to make sure everybody sees how fabulous they are, they make you feel like the best version of yourself.
Vintage brass and chandelier crystal stunners by Xenia Mara Designs.
Lulu Frost never disappoints!
Another amazing pair by Xenia Mara – this time vintage brass and pyrite (most commonly know as Erica’s favorite stone!).
Dannijo rhinestone earrings. Dare to be bold this holiday season!
Halloween time at Hitchcock Madrona! That means get in a costume that you can’t breath in, perch precariously on a rocky cliff, and wear all the jewels. This year I was transfixed with the imagery of the new Mad Max movie. I am old enough to remember the old movies (although not very clearly) which were brilliant. But, any movie with Grace Jones is automatically in the reference data base that is our minds….
Sister soldiers…..this could easily be Millie and I at closing time the Saturday before Mother’s Day in the boutique.
Do you have a boss like this?!?!? Xenia Mara chains are worn as belts and with more belts worn as belts.
Millie is wearing (amongst a lot of items from our prop closet) our sexy black leather driving gloves. One pair left in store!
Dramatic rhinestone earrings by Dannijo. These are tough yet feminine – the Dannijo sister’s are the masters of a complex design. So talented!
I am wearing two double pointed quartz necklaces by Xenia Mara (shortest necklace and spiky under layer), braided leather and chrome clasp choker by Hitchcock Madrona, Rhinestone necklace by Lulu Frost, and (last but not least) the largest of the steel “bug” collection by Surplus. Of course, a look is never complete without a large Hitchcock Druzy Ring in sterling silver.
Millie’s fur vest is designed by CFAN. Beanie hats by CFAN available in-store now. They are just as fierce as the vest but more wearable on the daily.
Double Hitchcock Cuff! The sterling silver version (available online) is everyday must have for Millie and I. We are naked without it! I have layered mine with a classic Eddie Borgo cone bracelet and his pave pyramid bracelet (both in gunmetal).
The sales warriors are ready for the holiday season! We have on our heavy metal and are geared up for all our holiday collections which will be arriving throughout November.
Please email us at: email@example.com for purchase details on anything I have mentioned.
Have a MAD Halloween!
When we hear Xenia Mara, one word comes to mind: Chains! And lots of them. Xenia’s designs have been an ever present fixture on our showroom floor for the past 8 years, steadily flying of the shelves and into the wardrobe’s of our lovely clients. Ranging from chunky to delicate, subtle bling to heavy metal, Xenia’s designs still have us head-over-heels in love; especially for a night out on the town.
Goddess Chains good enough to eat.
Pyrite Beads make for badass bling on this Xenia Mara hand Bracelet.

Do you ever feel like you’re broken down on the side of the road, just waiting for someone to come along and tow you to safety? That is exactly how we feel waiting for Fall to come along. Enough with the babydoll dresses and billowy blouses. Well, we got impatient waiting for fall and decided to hit the road in search of patchwork, woolen layers, and the men’s coat of our dreams.

Chunky sweaters and oversized coats beg for a contrasting scarf and unexpected, exaggerated layers.

This year, we’re heading into fall with looks that pack a serious punch. Instead of easing into fall with a monochromatic attitude, we’re carrying color into our favorite season. From color-blocked hats and bags and festive cashmere, from Kelly Christy, Yestadt Millinery, and Hitchcock Madrona to 70s sexy, and Maleficent approved evil granny finds from our favorites at Dannijo and Lulu Frost we’re making our own fall story.
That is the best fortune I have ever gotten. We quote that (yes, we quote a cookie) tidbit weekly around here. Half joking (we try not to take ourselves too seriously), half serious. This is why, as you can see, there is something different about me… Yep, I dyed my hair gray. As millions of women try to cover it (I have been one of them for years) I go all the way. I have a thing about extremes – I seem to only be interested in the fringe. A personal truth: boring is death. I know this decision may be confusing for some… or even scary. Is it because I am going against the norm and not respecting traditional social truths (i.e. “young is better”)? A physical confrontation of ones mortality? Or, people just think it is plain ugly! All of these are okay with me. Dustin said, “You don’t dye your hair gray and expect everyone to love it. That’s why it is great!”. Other people aside, I am enjoying it. I have covered almost all conceivable “natural” hair colors in my 20 year hair experiment so, why not the last, unconquered frontier: GRAY!
In this outfit I wanted (sorry, needed) to highlight the gorgeous colors from Lulu Frost’s Fall collection. These earrings and necklace are amazing. I love all things blue, it’s my color. The “Nebb” frames by MOSCOT in the color blonde are a fun way to set off my cool, cool, cool, cooler than cool, new hair color tones.
Under everything is a delicate gold waterfall necklace by Xenia Mara. This one is sooo good. It is a chameleon necklace – a little Grecian goddess with a dash of Amazon woman. Super sexy. My heart necklace is over the whole sha-bang. We can’t leave out the frosty filling of this jewelry Oreo cookie: the “Warrior” necklace by Bella Colletta. I feel strong today…. that will work.
Xenia Mara has delighted our clients season after season (9 years now) with her brilliant and contemporary mix of vintage chain, semi-precious and precious gemstones. Join us at Hitchcock Madrona for an exclusive trunk show premiering Xenia’s new Fall/Winter Collection. Friday, September 26th from 5pm – 7:30pm. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Hope to see you all there!
The question that I get the most is: “How do I layer necklaces?” There are a few easy techniques that can guide your composition. Before we get into the basics of layering, I would like to introduce the Xenia Mara Goddess necklace, one of my essential jewelry wardrobe picks. Goddess necklaces come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors. As you can see, they are silver/black, copper/warm, or bronze based. These are invaluable for your layering combinations. The foundation for all genius necklace moments. I cannot live without mine.
All of these are on the longer side, but Xenia does a short version that is easily thrown on for work or play. They are chunky and cool – stand alone pieces.
If one of these three necklaces is not perfect we can customize a Xenia Mara goddess necklace for you! Your custom necklace will be perfect for your body and work seamlessly with your current jewelry wardrobe. A great option for the perfect layering piece! We just got a whole new batch. Come visit – there is one for every woman.
This is not my actual wedding dress. My dress is hermetically sealed in my basement never to see the light of day again. What a shame! Do you remember this dress from our Halloween blog extravaganza? This dress is so fun to wear! I especially love pairing it with my red shoes. I once saw a bride change her shoes for the party. She wore traditional ivory for the ceremony and red pumps for the reception. I was already married at the time so I couldn’t steal this idea…until now! Here at Hitchcock Madrona we represent the “nontraditional” bride but are not limited to her. A bride that wants to create a fashion forward look with a slight edge is perfect for our inventory. BUT, if you are more traditional, take away moments and inspiration from our bridal posts. We know not many people will actually wear all of this on their wedding day, but it is quite fun to pretend!
The first layer I am wearing is the Lulu Frost Bord La Mer necklace. It is inspired by the beach; a stunning tangle of brass chains, freshwater pearls, and glass stones. On top is the celestial jumbo pearl creation by Subversive Jewelry.
The Ashlyn’d Pearlette clutch is beyond chic. And it is the perfect size for the necessities (lipstick, blotting papers, mints, etc.) you will need at the rehearsal dinner or reception. Wearing: Xenia Mara hand bracelet, Hitchcock Madrona cocktail ring, and a sprinkling of personal and Catbird rings.
The Wouters & Hendrix Safety Pin Pearl earrings may be the coolest “alternative pearl” look possible. The scale is just right and they feel fresh and modern.
You probably noticed how many pearls I incorporated into this look… Pearls are the traditional wedding jewelry. They have such a wonderfully rich history. The ancient Greeks correlated them with love and marriage and believed they brought martial bliss. It has been long common for royalty to wear pearls (including American Royalty: Jackie Kennedy) in matrimony.
I hope you brides are feeling as inspired as we are!
