Okay, I have to admit that this may be my most favorite and most essential of all the Hitchcock Essentials. I LOVE a serious layered necklace. They are amazing on their own but even better as a base piece that you layer another necklace over. (It makes you look like a layering genius but it is dead easy!) As far as we’re concerned, nobody does the Layered Necklace better than our friend Xenia Mara. Her pieces are stunning on their and traffic stopping with something fierce over the top.
Xenia Mara shiney goddess layers, amazing on their own …
… even better layered with the Xenia Mara rock crystal Statement Necklace.
… or layered with our Hitchcock pearls.
It even works with delicate pieces. Xenia Mara delicate labradorite layers, so pretty …
… but when layered, a little edgy! Love how the black diamond in our Hitchcock Shield (a favorite second skin layer) looks against the dark vintage chains.
… and, of course you can never go wrong with our signature Hitchcock Heart.
As I’m writing this I’m wearing my very own Xenia Mara rock crystal stunner layered with Goddess chains – so I might be just the tiniest bit biased. But, if you do one Essential piece this season, make it a long layer. You won’t regret it – Promise!
When we hear Xenia Mara, one word comes to mind: Chains! And lots of them. Xenia’s designs have been an ever present fixture on our showroom floor for the past 8 years, steadily flying of the shelves and into the wardrobe’s of our lovely clients. Ranging from chunky to delicate, subtle bling to heavy metal, Xenia’s designs still have us head-over-heels in love; especially for a night out on the town.
Goddess Chains good enough to eat.
Pyrite Beads make for badass bling on this Xenia Mara hand Bracelet.
For more of Xenia’s beautiful designs please, grab your girlfriends and join us, in store this Thursday, September 17th @ 5pm until 7pm for our Xenia Mara Trunk Show with the Designer. The question that I get the most is: “How do I layer necklaces?” There are a few easy techniques that can guide your composition. Before we get into the basics of layering, I would like to introduce the Xenia Mara Goddess necklace, one of my essential jewelry wardrobe picks. Goddess necklaces come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors. As you can see, they are silver/black, copper/warm, or bronze based. These are invaluable for your layering combinations. The foundation for all genius necklace moments. I cannot live without mine.
All of these are on the longer side, but Xenia does a short version that is easily thrown on for work or play. They are chunky and cool – stand alone pieces.
If one of these three necklaces is not perfect we can customize a Xenia Mara goddess necklace for you! Your custom necklace will be perfect for your body and work seamlessly with your current jewelry wardrobe. A great option for the perfect layering piece! We just got a whole new batch. Come visit – there is one for every woman.
We are so happy to have another collection by jewelry designer extraordinaire Justin Guinta for his genius brand Subversive Jewelry. It doesn’t get much better (for me!) then Subversive Jewelry. He is the master of creating art jewelry from vintage cast offs and amazing chain produced in America (the old way). Made in his studio in New York, each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind. His talent especially shines in the large tangled “Sunken Treasure” design. We have sold many over the years. And yet, I still don’t own one. Oh the travesty! I am thinking, maybe, just maybe this is my time. A lot of the collection is centered around pearls and you know how I love my pearls. Feast your eyes!
The necklace (above) is a couture piece made from Victorian ribbon, an antique cameo, gemstones, chain and other vintage bits (what are they? Who knows!). This necklace is outrageous but, like most of Justin’s work, so wearable. It gives your outfit an instant edge and commands respect. His art is undeniable.
Dustin and I were feeling these celestial shapes in the collection. They are some sort of brass halo that rotates around the pearl or pyrite stone. The movement of these necklaces is incredible! I have never seen these three-dimensional shapes used in jewelry, which is a big draw for me. Unique, strange and pearl – a great balance between Coco Chanel and outer space. The pearls in the necklace above right are encased in concrete. I know, fabulous!
Pixilated pearl and amber glass necklace. This one is light and (in my opinion) work appropriate. Especially, if you work in a jewelry store (hint, hint).
We visited Justin in New York when we went last month to pick this collection. It was a wonderful experience. We have worked with Justin for almost eight years and never met. It was great to get to know him and talk about his amazing career. Look for a post on our studio visit soon – his space is amazing!
The scale of this necklace is outrageous! It is going to be so wonderful worn this summer with a sun dress or a tank top. It reads like exaggerated pearl and geometric craziness.
So, the question is……which one am I taking home and which one are you taking home???
