Styling a statement piece can be tough, and at times intimidating. To help, we are introducing a new blog feature: One Necklace Styled Two Ways.
At Hitchcock Madrona we each have our own signature style (if you hadn’t noticed). From Kate’s consummately leather-clad/Olsen twin-esque/LA cool , to Millie’s red-lipped/urban intellectual/grandpa. Then there is the luxe/androgynous/pearl-and-rhinestone/hobo vibe Erica rocks. The moral of the story is: no two Hitchcock girls are alike. Then there is our resident MAN: Dustin. We will get him in on the fun at some point!
Today we are featuring our Lulu Frost Revolution necklace from the Spring 2014 “Neon Baroque” collection. What a fabulous piece to add to any collection! Lulu Frost fans – rejoice!
Erica: I have paired it with this thrifted Yohji Yamamoto jacket (score!), white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans. The femininity of this necklace needed to be balanced by the masculine elements of my outfit. Heavy black frames and a bright pink lip echo the colors and shape of this necklace. I love how that worked out (just noticed this as I am writing). Then I threw on my leopard pumps because, well, leopard is a neutral, right??
I needed my pearl fix so I opted for this leather and pearl necklace by We Like To Lounge. To add warmth, I chose an Xenia Mara short chain necklace. These work with everything! The silky threads of this new style are beautiful on – it forms to the body and works with any neckline. My rings are both by Crystal Hartman. Black onyx and white moonstone bring the whole look together. Her rings are devilishly evil! I love them!
And here is Millie’s take…
Millie: My personal style is perfectly summed up in the beginning of this post: I am an urban, red-lipped, grandpa! On any given day you can find me in a grandpa sweater, a beanie that reads “DOPE” or many, many gold chains (topped off with my signature MAC red lip of course). And, for your information I truly believe that in a past life, or this life (who knows?) I was an early 90’s rapper. Here is my gold chain, bling-heavy take on the Lulu Frost Revolution necklace.
The mixed metals and crystal details of this Lulu Frost bracelet tied my druzy and vintage gold bracelet together in a bold way. The pop of green adds color and brings my arm candy together with the golden chaos around my neck.
Xenia Mara and Lulu Frost both have an incredible way of taking beautiful vintage pieces and turning them into something modern and accessible. Layering the two together was a no brainer for me.
Statement necklaces can be intimidating but by showing you their versatility, we hope to alleviate any of your fears.
So start playing around, we want to see YOUR statement style too!
